Leadership Opportunities for Early Career Scientists and Trainees at FASEB

The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) seeks applications for Early Career Representatives on the FASEB Board of Directors and FASEB Science Policy Committee.  Members of the Society for Developmental Biology interested in serving should send their applications to SDB’s Executive Director (ichow@sdbonline.org) by Monday, March 29.  SDB will nominate one early career scientist for each FASEB position.  See below for more details on each position.

Early Career Representative on the FASEB Board of Directors

Full Society for Developmental Biology members who are within 7 years of their first independent faculty/research scientist position, are interested in advocating on behalf of the biological and biomedical sciences, and are committed to serving science through scientific organizations, are encouraged to learn about the position and apply.

Applicants should submit the following items to SDB's Executive Director (ichow@sdbonline.org) by March 29, 2021:

  1. No more than one page describing why you want to serve FASEB in this role, and attributes and experiences that have prepared you for this position.
  2. Resume/CV focused on relevant activities and appointments (maximum two pages)

Early Career Representative on FASEB Science Policy Committee

Full members within 7 years of their first independent faculty/research scientist position, postdoctoral members and graduate student members of the Society for Developmental Biology who are interested in science policy issues, such as animal research, workforce development and training, data sharing, etc are encouraged to learn about the position and apply.

Applicants should submit the following items to SDB's Executive Director (ichow@sdbonline.org) by March 29, 2021:

  1. No more than one page describing why you want to serve FASEB in this role, and attributes and experiences that have prepared you for this position.
  2. Resume/CV focused on relevant activities and appointments (maximum two pages)
  3. Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Researchers only: One letter from the applicant’s advisor providing approval for the applicant’s service on the FASEB Science Policy Committee.
