The Department of Biology at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2018. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, or related discipline from an accredited US university. This is primarily a teaching position and the primary responsibility of the successful candidate will involve teaching courses in cell biology and molecular biology electives, as well as courses in the candidate's area of expertise. In addition to demonstrating strong potential for outstanding teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to involve undergraduate level students in their research program. The area of research specialization is open but preference will be given to candidates working with non-mammalian systems. Applicants with postdoctoral research, a record of publications, experience mentoring students and especially college teaching experience are preferred. The selected candidate will also help advise and provide research opportunities for pre-professional students (e.g., pre-med, pre-vet, pre-dental), and will provide support to the delivery of a pre-med concentration. The successful candidate will be provided with laboratory facilities, start-up funds, and a salary commensurate with experience.
