The Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Illinois University anticipates hiring a tenure track assistant professor with a focus on Developmental Biology. The successful candidate will establish a robust, externally funded research program in developmental biology with emphasis on the use of contemporary genetic tools in cell and molecular biology to investigate development in multicellular organisms. Candidates who complement the department’s strengths in cancer biology and biomedical science are particularly encouraged to apply. The candidate also will contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching including an upper-level course in developmental biology and potentially courses in cell and molecular biology, genetics or human physiology. Experience working with diverse student population underrepresented in science is desirable.

Additional responsibilities include mentoring and supporting students from diverse backgrounds; training graduate and undergraduate students in biological research; and service to the department, university, and community.
