Postdoctoral Position, Evolutionary Cell and Developmental Biology at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research

Posted 3/31/2017

A fully-funded postdoctoral position is available at the Stowers Institute to investigate the molecular, genetic and cell biological mechanisms of development in the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis.

Broad project goals are:

  1. To utilize genome engineering and advanced imaging methods to investigate the establishment and homeostasis of polarized epithelia during early development.
  2. To utilize established gain- and loss-of-function approaches to interrogate signal transduction, stem cell biology, and growth control in this highly tractable emerging model organism.  Specific research goals are flexible and can be fit to the interests of successful applicants.  Candidates should be dynamic and highly motivated with a demonstrated record of productivity and a recent PhD degree.  Expertise in genomics, cell/molecular biology and experimental embryology are highly desired, along with training in confocal microscopy and phylogenetic analysis.
