To enhance interactions between developmental biologists in Mexico and the US/Canada, the SDB Board of Directors approved including SDB members based in Mexico in the Southwest region. Now members in Mexico will be incorporated into Southwest Regional meetings and sometime in the future it will be possible to have the Southwest Regional meeting in Mexico. The next Southwest Regional meeting will be held in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah in the Spring of 2012.

SDB awards scholarships for 3 students to attend MBL Embryology Course

SDB traditionally funds three students to attend the famous Embryology course held each summer at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. This course has been in existence almost 120 years. This year’s students supported by SDB were Eric Brooks (University of Texas, Austin), Joseph Campanale (Scripps/University of California, San Francisco), and Jacob Hines (University of Colorado, Denver). The 2012 course will be held June 4-July 17, 2012. The application deadline is February 1, 2012.
